Annuals

Basket Stuffers are Here!

One of the true delights of summer is to sit on your deck or patio and enjoy the beauty of the blooms cascading from your hanging baskets and pots. From feathery grasses and charming daisies to fragrant Nemesias and cobalt-blue Lobelias, Sky Nursery has everything for the patio gardener.

To go along with our past favorites such as Supertunias, Wave Petunias, Verbena, Million Bells, Bacopa, Diascia, Ipomoea, and Osteospermum we will be featuring some wonderful, new introductions. These new annuals are all chosen for their heat tolerance, vigorous growth and habit, and, in some cases, drought tolerance. Along with these wonderful qualities they may also attract hummingbirds and butterflies.

One of our new “basket-stuffers” is called Mercardonia “Gold Flake”. This is a fantastic plant reminiscent of Bacopa in its growth habit but with a bright, yellow flower. It is a vigorous low grower with a trailing habit perfect for pot or hanging basket. It can also be used in the garden as a ground cover and along borders. Another new addition is Bidens “Solaire Yellow”, a bright yellow trailer with a more genteel habit than other Bidens.

If you are a fan of the beautiful Phlox plant we will be carrying Phlox Intensia “Lavender Glow” and “Neon Pink”. This new series will grow from spring, well into fall, with heat tolerance and vigor all the while maintaining flower size and intense color.

I am mentioning just a few of our new basket-stuffers here because the best way to truly envision the beauty of your hanging baskets and pots is to come into Sky Nursery and see all of the fantastic plants that we have to offer. The staff is always willing to help you create just the right look. Sky also carries a great assortment of pots and the best potting soils and fertilizers for the job. Then you can kick back and enjoy the beauty that you have created all summer long!
