Blanket your Beds!

A nice blanket of mulch conserves soil moisture during our summer drought, protects your garden soil from compacting, and helps to discourage diseases and weeds. Sky carries five mulches in bulk: medium fine and extra fine bark, Cedar Grove Compost, Chicken & Chips (not for lunch!) and Fertile Mulch.

Visually, the bark mulches are reddish brown, the Cedar Grove Compost is dark brown, and the Chicken & Chips and Fertile Mulch are cocoa brown. Bark mulches are excellent for weed control and soil moisture conservation; the other three will also help to improve your soil as it works its way in (and you can mix them with the soil to improve it in new planting areas).

Sky also carries premixed soil for new beds: three way soil for berms and fill, planting mix for raised garden beds. Plus, we have cedar play chips for children’s play areas, pea gravel for dog runs, 7/8" drain rock, and 2 sizes of crushed rock for driveway and path repair.

All of these products are available by the bag for small jobs, by the 1/2 yard or yard picked up, and by the yard delivered (with a ten-yard delivery minimum). If you were mulching 2" deep, each cubic yard will cover 150 square feet of your beds.
