Dividing
to Multiply
How
many gardeners don’t want free plants? Plant math works
differently from human math - to multiply, you divide! Fall
is a great time to divide spring blooming perennials. To divide,
cut the plant back and dig up the entire clump. A five gallon
bucket about half full of water is useful for washing soil
off the roots so you can see natural division points. Hori
Hori knives work well, or you can use a sharp spade. Replant
immediately, water well, and mulch lightly. Happy plant multiplication!
