Soils and Bulk Materials 101

When gardeners talk about their successes, the conversation inevitably turns to the soil. Improving the health and vitality of the soil is the heart of any garden.

Sky Nursery strives to provide you with bulk and bagged soil products that will help to build your soil’s productivity. We make our own Planting Mix with a blend of local materials to create a versatile soil for most landscaping projects.

If you need to enrich your existing soil for a perennial or vegetable bed, or to create a new lawn, Sky carries Cedar Grove Compost. Cedar Grove is a great source of organic matter that can be tilled into soils that are overly compacted or depleted.

Once you have planted your beds, you will want to mulch them with quality mulches. Sky’s selection is wide and includes traditional bark mulches as well as Chicken ‘n’ Chips, Fertile Mulch, and Summit Mulch.

Sky also carries cedar Play Chips, builder’s sand, and gravel products. You can also find bagged soil conditioners and amendments from Gardner & Bloome.

All of the bulk soil, mulch, and rock products Sky carries are available for both pickup and delivery. Our knowledgeable staff can help with specific recommendations for your garden.
