R Us

Any
way you slice it, we have a tomato variety to suit your
space
and amuse your taste buds. With 41 varieties on our list
for
2005, we promise you'll find something to your liking.
Do you delight in being the first on your block with a vine
ripe tomato? Plant Fourth of
July. Not getting enough lycopene in your
diet? Plant Health Kick!
Tired of all that red? Try Sunsugar,
Sungold, Lemon
Boy, Yellow Pear,
Yellow Brandywine,
Black Prince
or Mr. Stripey.
Enjoy
a hefty, juicy slice of fresh tomato on your sandwich
or hamburger? Better Boy or Big Beef will
stand up to the challenge. For limited space or container
gardening, select a 'determinate' variety such
as Celebrity, Oregon Spring, Patio, Jolly
Elf, Sweet Olive, LaRoma and
other
paste types, or the most diminutive of all, Birdie
Red Robin. Longing for the good old days?
We stock 10 heirloom varieties, including Seattle's
Best of All.
Last,
but not least, we've added two new varieties this year.
The 2005 AAS winner, Sugary F1
packs a punch, with a sugar content of 9.5%. The 1/2 ounce,
pointed oval, dark pink, crack resistant fruit is borne in
grapelike clusters. Its semi-indeterminate growth habit makes
it a good choice for large containers. The fruit ripens in
approximately 60 days from transplanting. Cupid
F1(FASt)
is a vigorous, indeterminate plant with very firm, large oval,
cherry type fruit, its grape-like clusters ripening in 66
days. The fruit holds well on the vine without cracking.
